Family Education Programmes
The 4/5 years that your child goes through in their Secondary years are years of exploring new interests, developing deeper friendships and skills. They are growing from a child to a young adult. They will develop their own beliefs and convictions. These crucial years, the children needs a significant adult in their lives to listen, care for, guide and be there for them in a non-critical and non-judgemental way. Building a strong and healthy relationship between parent and child is so crucial in these developmental years.
Parents need to have knowledge and be equip with the skills to better engage their children regularly, having deep one on one conversations. Parenting Journey should be intentional, anchored on knowledge and skills and not experimental. Learn from parents who have journeyed those years with their children before.
The school has lined up several Parent workshop sessions. We hope you will seize the opportunity to equip yourself as well as share your experiences to the other parents

Parents’ Talk 1 August 2026
Title: Understanding and Relating to your Teenagers: Theory, Practice and Lived Experience
Audience: For parents only
Speaker: Dr Gloria Kong
Synopsis:
Journeying with teenagers can be both challenging and rewarding. Parents are faced with rapid changes in the physical, emotional, behavioural, and social states of their teenagers, as well as the constant turmoil in identity development accompanying adolescence. This workshop examines these changes that teenagers experience, helping parents comprehend their teenagers’ stage of development, and their occasional puzzling actions and reactions. It highlights the importance of effective communication, active listening, and empathy as tools for building strong, trusting relationships. Parents will find guidance on recognising the balance between granting independence and providing necessary support, fostering self-esteem, resilience, and promoting healthy decision-making. Ultimately, we aim to empower parents with insights and approaches that not only enhance their relationship with their teenagers but also support their growth into confident, responsible individuals. The speaker, together with her spouse, will share their own experience bringing up three very different children in their family.
